Matthew Newton and Bipolar Disorder

I am getting a little tired of hearing what a 'bad' person Matthew Newton is. Yes he has done things such as assaulting his former partners and now allegedly a taxi driver.  I am not here to offer excuses for anyone that harms another but, we must all realise he has bipolar disorder which is a chronic mental illness.  When one is in a manic phase they can do reckless things and more, in a depressive phase they are more a danger to oneself - suicide rates are high with this disease.

Matthew is unwell and needs all the help he can get with family and friends, and his medical team supporting him.

There is no cure for bipolar only medical treatment, psychologists, psychiatrists and medication which you must keep up daily for life.

I believe that many who have called Matthew many derogatory names, and claim he is using his medical condition as an excuse for reckless behaviour need to get out of their comfort zone and learn more about the condition instead of being unkind and ignorant.

About his recent alleged assault on a taxi driver I reserve judgement as I still believe in our system of innocent until proven guilty.

Here is a link that provides some worthwhile information.

How many social networking/media sites do you belong too - Why?

Curious as to how many social networking/media sites do you belong too and Why.  I know my journey began as part of educational and business research, finding that over a number of years I ended up being a member of over 60 sites (none of them dating ones by the way).  Totally unmanageable and as time has gone on I have begun to cull many, also lost passwords have forced me to ignore some.

I am now using only a few sites to keep myself up to date and those which seem to have a practical purpose, yes facebook, twitter, myspace but this less and less, linkden and am now testing branch out.  Of course blogs and my own website are not going anywhere.

It has been a long journey and as more cloud computing comes into play that is certainly in the mix.

Love to hear about others journeys and what and why you are using particular sites.

Branch Out

Branch out is a relatively new social networking site that appears to be in competition with Linkedin.  I am still not sure exactly how it works although I am puddling around with it.  What I am finding at this stage is that it is very similar to Linkedin so do I really need Branch out in my kit of tools.  I would love to hear from others about their experiences and their comparison of the two.
